TOM SAMSON
REG. NO. STS0047
One of my role models is the Israel’s King David, he was a great leader
The only man who earned the title {a man after God’s own heart}
David PATIENCE.
David waited for a long time before inaugurated a king even though he was anointed many years before being publicly declared as king. David had good opportunity to kill Saul and declare himself a king but he waited for Gods time. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
David HUMILITY.
When he was called up to the palace, instead of demanding the throne, he worked as a servant. He performs music for the king whenever king Saul demanded music. David was humble. He knew that, even as king, he was still just a servant of the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Who am I, Sovereign Lord, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?
David COURAGE.
When Goliath came out to challenge the army of Israel, everyone was afraid of the 9-foot giant. Besides being king, Saul was a head taller than any other Israelite. So when the giant Goliath came out to challenge the army of Israel, everybody feared except for David who stood firm. The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall, I fear?
David and His FAITH.
David showed that he had faith in God. He believed that God was in control. When most of Israelites brought up doubts concerning killing Goliath, David pointed to the evidence of how God had taken care of him in the past by killing Bear and lion. He trusted that God would continue to keep His promises towards him
Daviid and the GRACE.
This is someone who slept with someone’s wife. tried to cover up the resulting pregnancy, and had the husband killed when that cover-up didn’t work. Why would God have anything to do with a lying, adulterous murderer? It was more about God’s character than David’s.
Being a good leader doesn’t mean making the fewest mistakes; it means being open about them and being quick to ask forgiveness and get back on the right path. David acknowledged his sin, repented, confessed and moved forward.
I have sinned greatly in what I have done. Now, Lord, I beg you, take away the guilt of your servant. I have done a very foolish thing. David (2 Samuel 24:10)
