Translation is the transfer of information or message from one language to another without distorting the original texual meaning.
It’s primary goal is to ensure that meaning is rightly conveyed to the target language without loosing the intentions of the original language.

Translation is more than just substituting words from one language to another in that:
    a) information must be conveyed to the target language without altering in any way the meaning of the original language.
    b) tone and style of writing must be preserved.Emotions must be felt as intended by the original language.
    c) it bridges the language barrier thus making it easier for people to get the message intended in their local languages.
d)it helps us understand the cultural, historical, religious as well as economic backgrounds of the past.

Key feature during the patriarchal period
    NOMADIC LIFESTYLE.
During the patriarchal era, they lived a nomadic way of life where they reared animals and moved from place to place in search of water and pasture. They would camp in a certain place for some time and their animals would graze there.
They would establish altars where they camped and worshipped God.
    EXAMPLE.
In Genesis 12 we see Abram leaving Haran with his family and livestock by the command of God.He comes to Canaan and dwells there. From here he moves to Shechem and builds an altar for the Lord after God spoke to him and promised to give his (Abram) descendants the land of Canaan.
He farther moves south to the hill country east of the city of Bethel where he builds another altar for the Lord.
He continues moving southwards and due to a severe famine in Canaan, comes to Egypt in search of pasture. He then moves north out of Egypt in the southern part of Canaan.
Here the herdsmen of Abram and Lot(Abram’s nephew) quarrel due to pasture. They both had so many animals and the land could not support both of them thus they had to separate.
Lot and his animals moved toward the east in the Jordan Valley and camped near Sodom while Abram stayed in the land of Canaan.
Abram later journeyed from Mamre to the south and lived between Kadesh and Shur.

Understanding the cultural and historical context enhances our interpretation of patriarchal narratives in that we are able to understand better how the people of that era lived, what their occupation was, their economy and how they interacted with other regions beyond their own and even how and what they worshipped.

    My role model is Daniel.
Daniel remained firm and decisive in all areas of his life even amidst the oppression of the Babylonians.
a)Wise in diet-he humbly requested not to enjoy in the kings delicacies. After a long journey to captivity this youth knew that their bodies needed to rest and repair itself and asked if they would be served with vegetables which would be easier to digest, loaded with vitamins and minerals and not tire their bodies.
    b) Composed and firm in faith-even when given a Babylonian name that did not make him shift his faith in God.He was deliberate in worshipping his God in an idolators nation thus bringing an impact to many.
    c) Fearless -he never wavered even in the lions den and worshipped God even in the least expected place.
These among others make him a perfect role model to me.

    1)Sporting
This is a program which brings people of all ages, tribes and even races together for only one purpose;to play and compete in sporting activities.
The youths play against themselves, the old verses the old,and even the disabled persons play against each other. All the mentioned groups can also play interchangeably eg the youth verses the old.
    2) Sporting is important and improves health in that the body is made active.
a)Improves brain health -while sporting the body is vigorous and this makes oxygenated blood to flow to the brain thus curing insomnia among others and improving health.
    b) Digestion: Sporting can help in alleviating signs of irritable bowel Syndrome (IBS)
    C) Chest congestion- by sporting the lungs are engaged and this help in improved breathing by opening air spaces in the lungs.
These among others are some of the benefits of sporting in improving health.
3)This could be made even better if funds were allocated to support locals in buying sport gear, introducing trophies for the winning teams and even providing food when people attend the games.
