ParticipantDAVID
My role model is David the son of Jesse.
A young boy that with only a sling and 5 stones he was able to slain the most formidable philistine giant from Gath in broad daylight(11 century BC)
From a shepherd rising the ranks to the second king of the ancient Israel and Judah uniting all tribes of israel under a single monarch.
David is also an important figure in Judaism,Christianity & Islam.
The story of David and Goliath is my favourite(1Sam17)often used to illustrate themes of faith, courage and triumph of the underdog.Antony Gitonga

ParticipantTHE PATRIACHAL PERIOD
One key feaure of the patriachal period that i would like to discuss is covenant making.
Q.What is a covenant?
Covenant is reffered to as an agreeement between 2 people or 2 powers,a distinctive feature that was used during the ancient days.
They are 2 types of treaties associated with covenant making.
■Parity treaty
This is an agreement that involves 2 equal powers
■Suzerin-Vassal treaty
This is an agreement between a major power and a lesser power.Abrahamic covenant in the book of Gen 12:1-3 fall under the Suzerin-Vassal treaty as it was an agreement between God and Man with God being the major power and Abraham the lesser power. This covenant was sealed with a ritual of circumcision as a physical sign between the two and was to be adhered to the leetter.
Understanding this process of covenant making help explain the theological concepts like promised land, inheritance and the people of God.it also provides context for practices like circumcision and the battle between jews and gentiles thus giving us fidelity to interpret scripture.
However, treaties were some of the key socio-political governing features that used to happen during the patriachal era.Antony Gitonga
Participant●One thing that help the people in my community stay healthy is farming. As part of our day to day healthy living we practise subsistence farming alot. With this kind of farming we are sure to plant natural foods.ie corn, fruits and vegetables. These foods help us eat or prepare a healthy meal rich in all vitamins that the body requires to stay healthy.
●Peoples health is key in growing the community, country & the world at large. When people are healthy they are able to work, read and lead.Healthy living plays a big role in building a sustainable environment for people to prosper in life.In a nutshell healthy living enhances human nature and ability to strive, focus and build the future.
●Oganising community health based programmes is a sure way to reaching to as many people as possible. This can be further relayed through engaging with residents during meetings for community based projects, school programmes, wedding ceremonies and during church gatherings.During these gatherings the facilitators are able to convey public health principles and reach as many people as possible.

ParticipantTranslation
What is translation?
Translation is tranporting a message from one place to another using a language that can be easily understood.ie from english to kiswahili or from Kiswahili to Kalenjin depending on the reader or listener.
The primary goal of translation is to make it available to the target audience.Translation is more than just subtituting words from the source because it requires the translator to be keen and attentive to the original text without loosing the original meaning(word-word). It also requires one to have an in-depth understanding of the target language, cultural nuances and theological accuracy.
However, translation has made me understand Bible stories better while making it easy for me to interpret prophetic books without having to strain. This has since improved my point of view of scripture and participation in Biblical studies.
